So I just got back from being at the beach this past week. I have to say that last week may have been the most relaxing week of the year thus far. That feeling is what I had hoped would carry me through the next couple months was effectively removed by work when I went back this morning to boxes piled haphazrdly around a foreign space two floors higher than I had been previously. Half of my day was spent reorganizing and putting out fires from me being gone for the previous two weeks.
While at the the beach I saw a baby sea turtle hatch from the nest and make it out into the ocean during broad daylight. These turtles only come out at night but this brave little guy came out alone and made it all the way to the surf. Go him/her!
Dolphins were a regular on the surf as well. I saw them at least 4 times playing in the water. Had never seen this much wildlife on one vacation before.
The company down there was second to none as well and I couldn't have asked for more. I absolutely adore the group that I went with and I seriously have been blessed with great friends.
The week before I had been down in Greensboro for Catholic Heart Workcamp. There were about 200 teens there from all over the east coast giving up a week of their time to serve others. Jobs ranged from building wheelchair ramps, to working with disabled children through a horse therapy farm, to spending the day with older people affected by Alzheimer disease. I can't say that this week was the most comfortable for me (when is sleeping on a floor comfortable?) But I did get a lot out of it. I was working with a group of 18 year olds who were all going their various ways after graduating high school and they were amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better group of young adults to work with.
Hopefully I can get a picture of what we accompolished up here soon because it is truly impressive. :)
